I know there have been exchanges of insurance rates in the past but I'm finding nothing newer than 2015 in previous threads. Today State Farm informed me that my 2002 Boxster S will go up to $617 every six months even on a limited 7500 miles policy. Can anyone direct me to something more competitive? I'm carrying low ($250) deductibles and have a decent driving record. .......couple of speedos but no accidents or anything else. Any help is appreciated. Thanks !:confused:

I'm using GEICO insurance for all 3 of my vehicles and my home. The 2004 Boxster S has a 6 month rate of $198.00 Total auto insurance is $600 / 6 months.

I live in eastern PA and not in a major city.

Wawanesa, wife and myself have 4 cars. Both Boxsters are listed as pleasure vehicles at 5000 miles annually each. Full coverage, 1997 $276.00 and 2009 S $682.00 a year. No recent tickets or accidents and we are both 55+.

Geico. 4 cars (2 kids under 24), the box = 768/yr full with 250 ded and high $$ for liability. It is also NJ which is notorious for high auto insurance.

Look at collector policies for limited-use. Leland-West does offer more mileage and fewer restrictions, plus can do agreed value.

I have Leland-West for my 911. $250 deductible, $29k agreed value, $100k/300k/100k, occasional commute, about 4k/year for $550/year with PCA discount.

3 cars and home under GEICO policy. Full coverage on Boxster is $490/6mo with $1000 deductible. Bergen County NJ. Under 55, no accidents or tickets.

Just for the Boxster we are about $300 every 6 months ...less when it's in storage. We have a $500 comp and collision deductible and zero glass deducible, rental and tow coverage. We have 250,000 / 500,,000 liability coverage which people tend to overlook when comparing. No limit on driving. Clean driving records, multiple vehicles. North Central Illinois.

I'm paying less than $200/six months with Progressive for my 01 base. I have a clean record (though my wife does not and is listed on the policy). I have mine insured as a commuter car.

Interestingly enough, my most expensive vehicle to insure is my 2003 Ford F250 powerstroke.

State Farm just posted a 7 billion dollar underwriting loss in their auto business. They will be taking major increases just about everywhere. If you were in MD/VA/DE my agency could help. Find an independent insurance agency in your area and they can do the work for you showing comparisons with several carriers. I have 20 carriers that I represent and no company is the best all the time. Companies like State Farm, and Farmers, etc. Only use one company so they can't compare rates for you. I have three people that work for me that spend the bulk of their day managing our book of business (our customers policies) remarketing, making recommendations to policies. We transfer business from one carrier to another if it is beneficial for the customer. State Farm is never going to tell you to move to Travelers, or another company.

Guys that are with Geico...may want to watch your rates too! They just posted had a loss after a flat year last year so it is coming. Apples to apples I can beat them 9 times out of 10.

Collector cars is a good way to insure ones that are kept in the garage and driven rarely. Hagerty has a good product and Foremost also does as well. I ran mine that way since I write for them too...but wasn't much different than it is now. But the agreed value is better if there was a loss.

By the way my rate on the 01 Boxster S is about $250/6 months with accident forgiveness and deductible rewards and that is including my umbrella premium for that car which puts my limits at 250/500 BI and 1,000,000 for the umbrella.

If you have any military affiliation USAA may provide a competitive rate.

I have a 2001 Box-S 37K miles, clean record $156/6 months

Geico Full Coverage for 03 S/E55 $1200 per year in Eastern PA.

AAA has low rates

Geico full covererage 65$ a month including my 240sx on partial coverage. My motorcycle alone is around 50$ for partial.

With Erie Home and Auto. There are 4 cars on the policy $300K/$500K injury, 200K property, $100 comp $500 collision. The 2003 Boxster with 8500 miles/yr @$571 a year.
I'm almost 63. Total policy $2460.

You all need three kids in college! Not worth sharing details but I'm at $3,200 every six friggin months (GEICO). Oh yeah, newest car is a 2005 mustang with 120K miles. In fact, that's the lowest mileage car we have other than an '84 Alfa Spider with 72K (on separate collector car policy for under $200 year).

You should seriously look into Grundy or maybe Haggerty insurance. Little known fact is that they will insure all your cars not just classics or limited use cars and the entire policy is super cheap. I have 4 vehicles including the box with full coverage and the 6 month premium for all of them is $772.

I have State Farm for my 98' Boxster, 13' Nissan Altima & homeowners.....I just got my 6 mo. premium notice for the Boxster ($218) full coverage on both cars w/$500 deductible.
In total for both cars and the house I pay $1,200/yr

I have a policy for my 1967 MGB with Hagerty and added the 2004 Boxster to it. Cost me about $550 a year with an upgraded towing package. Good folks to work with.

Have Farmer's pay high monthly so we can have a low deductible ($100.00) I think we pay $200 a month for Boxster, Sienna, and Corolla. Boxster is about $98 a month. Farmer's is great only payed deductible when our van was rear ended. Windows and small cosmetic damages no deductible. Wife has been member forever she negotiated the deductible when we got married.

I'm using them for my Boxster as well, I think $500 deductible (match my "regular" insurance) I think $14,000 agreed value, 6k a year mileage, I think around $250 a year with PCA discount.

The condition was I have to store it in a locked garage and I need to have enough other vehicles for the other drivers in the house (if I have 4 licensed drivers in the house I have to have 4 other vehicles besides the Boxster). Also nobody under 25 can drive the Boxster.

Also welcome to FL auto insurance! I am there too, it is around twice as much as what my NC insurance was. I had Geico in NC but they just were not competitive in FL - progressive had the best rates, but then last time I checked was 2013, maybe time to get some recent quotes?

I pay 56 a month via Geico (in CO), 500 deductible full coverage with roadside/towing on my 03 Boxster S.

I really need to boost my deductible from $500 to $1000. There is usually a notable savings moving the deductible up and i would eat a $800 repair before i would turn in a claim for that. We are used to spending maintenance money anyway!

GEICO is a good choice for insurance on your Boxster.. I pay $216 every 6 months.. 250/500 liability, 100 property damage, 250/500 uninsured, 2K month work loss , 75k Pers injury & economic loss, 5k medical extra, $500 deduct collision & comp.. I was with SF and paid $398 every 6 for half the coverage.. GEICO worth looking into..

My 08 pickup and wife's Pilot cost more per year.
And my 17 YO son's 00 Accord? ouch.

It is always hard to compare insurance rate. There are so many variables involved.

I have an umbrella policy and the same coverage on all of the cars. They are all driven less than 7,500 miles a year with the exception of the 2012 BMW 535I;

just bought the '97 boxster and since it was 20 years old and an occasional driver sometimes commuter but less than 50%, it is insured with the 914 on Haggerty, $608 per year for both vehicles. Now my wife and I are the only ones listed to drive them, not either of my daughters that are 21 and 17(permit no full license)- we have 3 other vehicles that last year (2000 BMW 528I, 2004 Jag XJ VDP and 2007 Navigator) that all 4 of us are listed on- those cost me $1000 every 6 months with 500/1mil coverage low deductible - carrier is Safeco- a Liberty mutual company- when we switched from Progressive we cut our premiums in half!!!! no more supporting George Soros!! -

Thanks SO MUCH for all your feedback guys. Here's what I wound up getting: I went with Ford Heacock Classic out of Florida. My 2002 Boxster S now has agreed value at $15,000, NO deductible on comp, collision or towing. Includes Roadside assistance, unlimited mileage flatbed towing (State Farm had a really short mileage limit & I had to pay for overage), uninsured and under-insured. I am 67 years old, single and have 1 speedo 1 year old on my record. ANNUAL premium is $250! The only downside is that only have 50/100 liabilities on my 2002 BMW through State Farm and Heacock won't insure the Box for more than the BMW...some insurance thing. I will soon be switching the BMW to a more competitive carrier and raise liability on both cars. 100/300 only raised my premium to $258 on my Box. Anyway, I am thrilled with the way they treated me and with the positive comments I gathered here on the forum about Heacock including claims service.

OH! I forgot.....3500 limited annual mileage, NO other drivers, pleasure driving only, stored in locked garage, which is the way I have things anyway so no problem
