The M490 harness did the trick. Forget about which option code you have. If you have door speakers you have hifi and need the M490 harness.

Thank you 356Guy.

In all honesty, have not specifically checked the door speakers, just the overall sound has been great. BUT, at your instigation will check the door speakers to make sure they are working. Thanks for the help.

Forgive the ignorance, but what does "ROW car" mean??

Row

Thanks very much for the definition. I live in Vancouver BC Canada. My car was a US car imported into Canada....legally! So not an ROW car. Incidentally, I did, just to be sure, check my door speakers, and both are working well, again, thanks to Crutchfields great tech support.

Just doing some digging maybe someone can tell me if this would work to go from the fiber optic to the conti head unit

From the phtotos, the Fibre connector on the Longate unit looks different from the connector on my 2004 MOST system. I have 4 bundles of wires coming out of my CDR23, an 8 pin Black Molex, and 6 pin Yellow Molex, a two pin Fibre cable with Orange wires, and the Antenna.

At $129, it might be worth trying. I didn't see the 2003-2004 listed as compatible. Maybe give the tech support at the vendor a call?

I read somewhere that the USB on this Conti does not charge or work with iPhone that it’s only meant for flash drive.

Can you tell me if that’s true?

I do love the look of this unit!!!

I seem to remember the continental owners manual states that the USB connector is for flash drive use only. This is a nice unit but be prepared to wait on delivery. The supplier receives a limited supply monthly and I was put on a waiting list and received the radio some two months later. Ultimately worth the wait since it matches the Boxster interior so well...although I ended up installing it in my 1990 Nissan truck. Surprisingly, it also matches the truck interior.

I did a single DIN in my '97 (dead head unit). Bought a $60 Kenwood as it had orange illumination, BT, and iPod controls through USB. I used a floating to common ground converter to utilize the factory amp and door subs. Had a few of the adapters mentioned here. Easy install. Good luck!

I installed the Continental CDD7416UB-OR unit in my 2001 Boxster. I used the M490 harness described above. It works great so far and I really like its appearance in the cabin.

The only problem, though, is that when I lock the car using the remote, the horn honks once, indicating that something isn't right (like the glove box is ajar, trunk not latched, etc.). I did notice that the instruction guide talked about a blue/brown wire that had to be isolated. I see a wire like this in the bundle, but assumed that it would have been handled by the harness. Has any one else experienced this issue?
