CDR 23 with I pod?
 

My 03 box. has a CDR 23 radio I would like to know if there is a line in access which would accept an I-pod.

I have a CDR 220 radio, and it was fairly easy to add an iPod. It sounds like the CDR 23 is a much more advanced system and more difficult to modify.

I would be interested to know what is involved in connecting the iPod to the CDR220. My local Porsche Centre are offering to connect it for $499 ( about $US360.00 ) which seem a bit expensive?

Any advice appreciated

I agree that price sounds high. Here's a link to the procedure I used:

This method allows you to power the iPod as well as use it as an auxiliary sound input.

If you don't need to power your iPod from the car, it is simpler. The Becker connector fits into the back of the radio. The two female RCA connectors on the Becker connector are mated to a cable with two male RCA plugs on one end a stereo mini plug on the other.

I've performed this modification twice - on my 2000 Boxster and on my friends 2002 model. Without the power function, it takes less than an hour. If you're handy with a soldering iron the full procedure takes less than an hour and a half.

Note, the iPod connector uses the input originally intended for the CD changer. If you have a CD changer, you will have to design a switch or do without the changer function.

There is no link into the CDR-23 - its all fibre optic most bus connection, including the CD changer.

We've been waiting 3 years for Deension to sort out their ipod connector - its rumoured to be almost ready, but don't hold your breath.

FM transmitters like the itrip, road trip are the only way at the moment :mad:

Basically, you need to order 1 part from Becker for the CDR-220 and then a part from Monster Cable that plugs into the Ipod.
