Acceleration in 1st Question
 

Hey all thankfully my car has been running great up until recently so I guess I was due for some type of repairs.

I am at stop and I shift into first no problem. The only issue is that I have to rev my engine a little higher than normal to move off. After I get going then the car shifts fine in and out of all gears.

My initial thought suggests that it is probably the clutch since it has been about 55,000 miles since I last swapped the clutch.

Greatly appreciate your thoughts on what the problem might be.

It all starts with a little slippage...

My 01 S has had two clutches in 80K miles.
Just installed #3, so 55k miles on a clutch seems pretty good really.
Guess my average is 40k miles per clutch.

Like the others said, sounds like the clutch is starting to give up.

Be prepared to replace the DMFW as well when you do the clutch

Does sound like some clutch slippage. What is your pedal engagement like? Has it changed? Do you mostly drive on the highway or city? Depending on what type of driving you do it will play on how much life you get out of your clutch. If your clutch begins to slip when the pedal is not depressed, then chances are your clutch disc is worn, or the spring plates in your pressure plate have worn out. Good luck.

Get the car up to speed in a higher gear (35-65mph) and try to accelerate hard. If the RPMs go up but the car barely accelerates (or not at all) your clutch is almost toast.

And if your clutch is toast, get it replaced ASAP as you can damage the DMFW
