Radio Receiver Defective

For about a year my key fob hasn't been working and I've been opening and closing using the key. Last week ChrisBlueZenith and I hooked up the Durametric and under Alarm we got:
54
Radio Receiver Defective
Status: Not present
Ocurrance Counter: 17

So, where is the radio receiver and how do I change it? And more importantly, will this get my key fob to work?

Do you have an aftermarket stereo by any chance?

The alarm system ground wire on the radio chassis is disconnected.

And if you need your radio code because the diplay says "CODE" when you reconnect the ground wire mentioned by JFP...
There is a code # look up service somewhere(by VIN). But where ,I do not recall. Anybody else?
In theory there may be a sticker under the hood but I have never seen one intact or legible.

On both my cars the sticker was under the hood and legible! And there was another copy in the service manual. Some nice person had written the radio code in each place before my ownership.

The dealer can get the code for you if you provide the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and the serial number of the radio.

Post the serial number of the radio on renntech.org and there is a kind gent who can get you the code. There is a specific thread where you post the serial number and the gent gets back to you in a day or two with numbers to try based on an algorithm someone worked out.

How do I get the serial number?

For a Becker CDR220 (the most common Boxster radio, the one with a CD player inside the detachable front plate) you can turn the radio on with the power button, then press the TP button until Becker 1 appears on the LCD. Then use the right-hand knob to turn to the selection for "Seri:" which is followed by the serial number of the Becker CD unit.

The serial number is also on a sticker on the rear of the radio but you have to pull the radio to get at it. You need Radio pulling forks from Becker to do this. Any car radio shop or the dealer can do this for $$$. But why bother.

Pioneer double DIN

Yes, I have an aftermarket radio. A pioneer double DIN ever since I got the car. The fob worked back then. Maybe I should check those wires.
