coolant

Have watched several videos on YouTube re: coolant issues and still am not sure of the best solution. Have drained the radiator, flushed it with distilled water and am ready to refill. What is the best coolant to use? Am I forced to use the Porsche blessed option? I did buy a vaccum to insure I got all of the air out. Not sure if that worked correctly. Exactly how much fluid should the system hold (98 Boxster)? Thanks.

You can use the Volkswagen G12 (pink) coolant, works great in aluminum. Same for Zerex G-05 (Mercedes-Benz supplier).

This has been discussed many times and there even was a very recent thread, last week or so

The total cost difference between Porsche coolant and the others probably for the 6 gallons of 50/50 is maybe $30-$40

Just buy the Porsche stuff at around $35/gallon and distilled water from wallmart @ $1/gal to dilute it.

Its not something you have to change very often.

You want OAT.
See Pedros Garage for a comprehensive review.
Walmart coolant works fine.
Be more concerned about w/p weepage and burping/AirLift.

What came out. Pink?
If so put Porsche pink back in. No compatible iissues to deal with
If green, original Porsche was green. Mine was green and I did 2 flushes replacing with Porsche pink
I suggest using Porsche pink
Just my opinion

Gold

Mine is gold colored, is the newer Porsche coolant ??

Come on ,this chemistry not color co-ordination. Just buy OAT coolant. And oat is not a color!

Thanks, I had looked at coolants and nowhere could I see where it stated organic or not. Have looked further and there are several. Will use the OAT Prestone Extended Life. Hopefully tomorrow.
