Heated Seats Hack?
 

I was reading that on all Boxsters, there are heated seats regardless of whether you have purchased the option or not. The coils are in the seats, and you just have to wire them up. Has anyone seen a page for the hack? Everything I've read isn't descriptive, and I can't seem to find a web page with pics that describe the hack.

i know the power is in the fuse box panel next to your foot. it is #6 and should be 12v because it powers my subwoofer. if you wanted to wire it...there has to be a pigtail or some sort of insert to plug the seats in. i know the member Stryke has heated seats ask him where it plugs in. then you would have to stick a fuse into the panel (check the rating in the little fuse booklet thingy)and ground it cause in the panel it only has the + available. then run a test wire to the seat plug and maybe ground the seat. put some switch under the seat. i'd also run low rating fuse while testing...maybe a 7.5. it sounds like a hour to test hack it and 2 hours to make it look slick. i'd do it but i live in houston and from march to november it's.....well... Hot.

The coils are not in the foam. That is a false internet rumor that has been floating around for years. One of our local Boxster owners has come up with a retrofit.

Hey redfarm, what kind of sub/amp combo are you running? I assume you have the subwoofer in the rear trunk. How does it sound from back there?

It is a 10" Infinity BASSLINK- a powered amp speaker combo with a small "footprint". it comes in black or clear.
here is a link below. i actually spliced it in to the factory wiring at the amp in the front trunk. right now you can feel it but not really "hear" it. i'm gonna try to remount it into the back trunk but i will have to drill a couple of inch holes from the rear trunk to the interior cabin. i would highly recommend the basslink. i have one mounted in the trunk of an accord also and it ROCKS the car. it is just so hard to mount it in the boxster... if i put it in the rear it will have to be mounted lying down then i can't put any golf clubs :-(

it can be mounted lying down or upright with the supplied brackets.

I have the opt bose sub system which sounds good, but I like hard hitting music and it lacks hard "thump." Maybe if so inclined some day I'll put 2 tens in the back trunk. I dont think 12's would fit in the trunk with a decent sized box.
