Air Bag Ligh

Over the past 8 years my passenger airbag light has come on four times. The first three times I changed the seat belt buckle and the light stayed out for about a year. My Indy tells me I need to go to the Porsche Stealership and have some sensor changed and something else reprogrammed. Before I spend a stack of money to keep a meaningless light off, has anyone here had a similar experience and/or a way to make this light stay off without going to the Stealership?

Seat belt buckle related air bag lights are common on these cars. If cleaning the buckle contacts does not help, you will need replacement buckles.

The light can also be because of a grounding straps issue. I replaced both buckle ends before a TSB for the grounding straps fixed my issue for years. More info here.

My car has set an airbag light twice upon re-connection after I have disconnected the battery to perform other maintenance. I used my Durametric cable to clear it. Once cleared, it has stayed off (until I've disconnected the battery again).
