After 15+ Years of Ownership - Listed the Boxster for Sale

I tried this in 2013 and didn't get my price so I happily kept it. I would like to try an earlier 1979 to 1989 911 so I'll see if there is a market for an over priced 986. If it doesn't sell I'll be forced to continue enjoying it!

Chuck, while that price would be high for a run of the mill 986, I think it is actually a reasonable price for your car considering the condition, options and records. Good luck selling it, and let us know the outcome and, of course, pics of the 911!

I concur with grc - great looking car with plenty of options so should be priced correctly. And my dad liked to say you can always come down in your price but you can't go up. You'll still get some jack-wagon who asks if you'll take $10K since that's all they have to spend.

A couple of suggestions:

Include at the end of your ad "I do not need assistance selling this car". It will cut down (but not totally eliminate) the d-bags who call wanting you to fork over $400 for them to advertise your car in CL, Autotrader, etc for you.

It's an IMS bearing, not a baring. Baring appears twice.

I would really hate to see you sell her. You have provided may great threads based upon your years of ownership.

911's are beautiful. I had 2 (67 short wheelbase & 76 turbo look coupe). As pretty as they were, they did not compare to the Boxster.

I actually went from a '78 SC, to a '85 Targa, to my current Boxster. While I love the "raw" nature of the earlier 911's, current prices on them are absurd. I'm considering another myself, but will wait until the bottom of the market falls out...I find it very hard to believe the current lofty prices can be sustainable...

Beautiful car...You should have no issues selling it...

Beautiful car, good luck with the sale! "Tread" not "Thread" in "The tires are Michelin Pilot Sport 2 N3s with a lot of thread left." is the tiniest of nits but your car is so beautiful you should have an ad as perfect. If I knew anyone looking for a Boxster I would send them to you. If you are an Excellence subscriber or a PCA member I think you can advertise your car for sale for free there too - maybe you'll find some more knowledgeable buyers there too!

Chuck, Likewise, it will be sad to see it go. Fellas, I have seen this car in person and it is flawless! It looks like it just came off the showroom floor. Good luck Chuck!

If you sell it and have sellers remorse, it will be hard to find another one in the same condition you have yours. What's wrong with having two Porsches in the garage? No room? Make room

If you want it to not sell you gotta rake up the price 3 or 4K more

Anyone in their right mind would take your pristine 986 over any 987 base and it should be priced accordingly! Especially if you might want to keep it.

Oh also just cause I'm curious, what are the rockers you added where the batwing usually is?

Haaa.... thanks Jake. Those are 996 Targa Top Switches that I use for the gate opener and garage door opener.

You are so right. I had a 993 Turbo that I sold in 2011. It is now untouchable. When my wife had a Mini I could double stack two cars but can't do it with her M2. No. It's time.
