Transmission Leak

I discovered a little leak right on the seam of my manual gearbox. I took it to the mechanic he thinks it might be a worn out coil. He said that it would drop oil about the size of a quarter coin a day but two days in and there's no sign of oil spillage on my driveway?

if it doesn't get any worse than that, don't worry about it!

Clean it up with brakekleen (a gift from the auto gods) and scotchbrite. Smear a bit of black silicone or ultra gray over it and forget about it.

It's not difficult to get in there and fix it right. I would wait until I see drops on the floor, though.

The mechanic wants to charge me $300 US for it. We'll see what happens.

It's fair. If he guarantees the results!

Where does all the oil go once you've applied the Black Silicone?

It stays in the gearbox if it makes the seal or it migrates to the next weakest point and leaks. This isn't a big leak to my eye and could survive quite a while with a Band-Aid like this. If not, pull it apart and reseal properly.
