Shipping my Boxster to Cozumel MX

Hi folks,

I normally hang out in the classified section of this forum - first time posting in this area... Hi!

I'm planning on shipping my Boxster to vaca home in Cozumel. Has anyone here had experience with shipping internationally?

Was planning on driving to Florida and shipping from there but want to weigh the cost of just having it picked up from home Connecticut.

Thought of driving it down through by way of Texas and sticking the coast but have some security/safety concerns with that idea - unless someone has done this route and can put my mind at ease.

Appreciate any information on the topic.

Best,
Marty

Wow that would be a long and possibly dangerous drive from Texas. I would be most concerned right after I crossed the border. I would be on the safe side and ship the car.

....and let your insurance company know you are leaving the US. Most US based polices cover you and your car in the US, Canada, and American territories, but specifically exclude Mexico.

Thanks guys.... decided to ship it from CT to Port Morales where I'll pick it up and drive it on ferry to Cuzumel.

The car will not be coming back and hopefully I'll be spending most of my time there (semi-retired).

Best,
Marty

$650 from NJ, that's quite reasonable price... better off doing that then renting a car in some places for a month ! lol

I'm able to do some light wrenching but just in case...there is a Porsche dealership in Cancun - it's a 1hour ferry ride on car transport and a 30 minute drive.

Or.... I can invite one of the Porsche mechanics to the island and barter a nice weekend for some work on the car :D

Best,
Marty

Who knew? I never would have guessed that Cancun had a Porsche dealer
