Engine Bay Detail

Getting ready for winter. Tonight decided to check the serpentine belt and detail the engine bay while there. Not really worth writing DIY, but thought it might be a motivator for those changing oil -- pics nice enough to share with you all...

Serp belt good at 45K, no obvious wear after 14 years, decided to leave it another year....

Not needed, but got a chance to use my steam cleaner to blast some grime. Used 303 for plastics & quick detailer on metal.

Looks great. I'm not much of one for replacing things that are not broke but that belt....

At least carry a new one (and tools) with you if it does fail. I'd had to ruin a nice day in the next year over a $20 belt.

Thanks Boxster Steve! It is a quick project with nice result I think for anyone who does it -- my engine isn't unusual (except for today!).

dghii - yeah, was thinking now was time for replacement, but literally could not see any sign of wear yet. I put 5k/year on it as it is garaged and only driven when weather is pretty nice, so I'm thinking another year is reasonable. I have the belt already (bought 2 yrs ago), just seemed not yet time when inspecting it. Interested in other opinions as I haven't yet closed her up & could be convinced I'm being a fool here.....
