newbie owner

Hello All,
Yes I just picked up a 98 Boxster. And no i didn't take it to a mechanic and have it checked out. Probably like most Porsche owners I got "swept away". Have always wanted a Porsche and this one was affordable. So now the game begins. I will start reading the forum and learning all I can.
Will start with the simple stuff. Will change all fluids because I have no idea how it was cared for in the past. And it's something I know how to do. Then will look at brakes, tires etc. And go from there.
We'll see what happens. It's only been a day and I am still thrilled.
I'm happy to take advice and learn. Thanks.

Oh, I do want an owner's manual and a service manual. Is the best way to get a copy through the link on the forum site? Or does someone have a copy they can just upload to me? Thanks again.

Welcome!

It sounds like you have a great maintenance catch-up plan. Add a tire check to it if you haven't already had a look. Check tread and date codes. Older tires are dangerous. ;)

You're bound to see some hype over the IMSB...don't even read it. Check your oil filter at the oil changes, but that's it. You have a dual row IMSB, so no worries.

The best service manual is the Bentley. Pick one up. They are invaluable. ;)

Welcome to the forum. I did the same thing, I purchased my Boxster on impulse, like you I just got swept away. I wish I had know then what I have learned from this forum but I love my car and would do it all over again.

Congratulations, welcome to the club. Since you're looking for a service manual, the "101 Projects for Your Porsche Boxster" would be a good supplement.
