Non Starting 1997 Boxster
Hey guys,
Back to square one with my non-starting 1997 box. Have replaced the ignition lock out switch on the clutch (twice), works for awhile then nothing again. Jumped the wires and again good for a couple days-same problem. Checked the E1 fuse. Has a new immobilizer, so I'm running out of ideas. The starter works perfect. Could the solenoid just gradually fade out? Any and all ideas are most welcome! |
Is the problem only occurring when the engine is warm? IOW, is it when the engine is cold that it starts and runs? CPS?
|
When you try to start it & it fails, watch the rev counter very carefully. Does it the needle bounce very slightly? If not, Mike is correct -CPS or Cps wiring/connections probably.
|
It doesn't even try to turn over now. I'm assuming it is the starter, so back to pelican parts. Many thanks for your help!

Do you have crank but no fire? In that case it is most likely crank position sensor. Could also be fuel pump or relay.
No crank: check the start lock relay, then most likely immobilizer or power to ecu. Do you have a durametric? That will give you codes that will help narrow it down. |

My.02,
Buy a new AGL(M?) battery. 200+ bucks but well worth it. Forget Optima..they are made in Mexico and far less superior. |
