White smoke posting car for sale how much?

Here is my posting craigslist. What is the car worth now? i have the blue and black cap for the coolant reservoir.

THE PORSCHE HAS HAD A LOT OF WORK DONE AND I CAN NO LONGER AFFORD THE CAR. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS WHITE SMOKE FROM EXHAUST SOME TIMES . THERE IS NO FROTH IN THE OIL OR COOLANT, HOWEVER IS WITH STEAM FROM CAP AND WHITE SMOKE FROM EXHAUST SOME TIMES. AS IS CAR NEEDS REPAIR, BUT STILL RUNS. THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AND BEEN ON A LONG TIME, MAY BE SWITCH OR SOMEONE SAID UNHOOK BATTERY AND RESET IT. NOT SURE AND NEVER BOTHERED WITH IT. DRIVE SEAT POWER NOT WORKING NOW(MAYBE RELATED TO AIR BAG LIGHT) the windshield washer sprayer came disconnneted some how(sprays on ground) Fading to the carpet and wear to the leather seats as it is 15 years old.. there is wear to the interior of car

This is a very fun car and was my stress relief and I am the third owner of the car. The car in 2011 maybe hit a small animal and minor. Last year on my birthday, a kid swiped the driver rear panel with his mustang and was all repaired professionally.
1. The car looks pretty good for the years. People and friends love the look. However with finances it has to go and currently needs repair of some type and I do not have the time and money to have it diagnosed. It does run and drive and shift and all.
There is white smoke from the exhaust now and parked it. It did not over heat with the smoke and was like at 185 temp on guage. It does have pressure in the coolant tank with some steam from the cap sometimes. I had a lot of work done for thousands of dollars already and will list it all.
The car in the past year month has installed:
1) Replaced cup holders
2) new radio and new dash speakers(door speakers need replaced still)
3) oil change 0-50 oil and duralast additive. K&N air and oil filters installed couple hundred miles ago. New oil pan plug, old is fine but mechanic mentioned it.
4) new coolant tank installed. new valve and coolant cap replaced. Has steam in trunk still?OVER $800 spent on that...
5) LED lights for tag, doors, and both trunks...
Recent work done and repairs in past couple years:
1) recent water pump
2) belt
3) spark plug seals
4) oil cooler
5) LN engineering IMS Bearing retrofit cost $2500. see door panel for bar code proof.
6) lights buffed and detailed clear and clean.
7) recent battery
8) main large coolant hose replaced another $300 August 2015
The car A/C works, the top works fine, the power windows work, and the auto shift works. THE CAR IS BLOWING WHITE SMOKE FROM EXHAUSTSOMETIMES(they said I may need to take some oil out due to adding the big bottle of Duralast after the $150 oil change and oil seperator random squirt oil in exhaust..). I TOOK PHOTO OF TRUCK WITH LINER REMOVED TO SHOW CLEAN AND NEW COOLANT TANK. THE CARPET WAS BE REINSTALLED PRIOR TO SALE IN THE TRUNK(removed for replace of coolant tank). YES CAR STARTS RIGHT UP EACH TIME. AND RUNS AND IDLES AND NOT SHOW OVER HEATING.
****you are buying this car knowing it has needs to be repaired***** I am not a mechanic and do not have time to check it or repair it. I am a single dad selling things to make the bills and this fun ride has to go because I don't care to repair it anymore.***

Driving the other day ran fine, then puff of smoke for seconds out rear and then stopped after driving 10-12 miles.. Also note that the rear spoiler does not go up any more and the driver door sometimes relay does not fully unlock door, press on door click and open. it has a relay in door lowers and raise the window and unlocks door just maybe out of sync or something. It does not appear to be an issue when driving with window down and top down lol.

Take it to Pedro !
http://www.pedrosgarage.com/Site/About_Us.html
If he is too far, ask for a referral- he knows everybody !

For little money you will have a fine car good for another $100K miles. The serious money spent is a great reason not to abandon it at this stage. A roller is worth maybe $4k.

I saw this car on cl for 4500 told him to pull the post and ask you guys the price. Told him first about Pedro and AOS he already has updated coolant cap just not on. So give him some as is price.

Assuming it's a 2001 based on build date (not mentioned in the ad)?

2001 base tiptronic with a cracked head, $2,500

dghii 09-29-2016 08:06 PM

What about a 2001 with a bad AOS?
I figure it at about 5-6K based on the you never know if there's something else.

Deduct for tiptronic???? That makes no sense. KBB still adds for automatic. Bigger target audience for auto.....

Yes, deduct for Tip. The price guides are not in touch with the actual mkt when it comes to Tip value. It subtracts value vs a manual.

I was able to buy the 08 base Box on ebay earlier this yr for $1K less than my max bid. I think the fact it was a Tip kept bidders away. I'm sure that's why I sold it for $1500 less than it should have sold for (40K mi, 1 owner, no accident nice car). I knew Tips were less valuable than manuals going into the transaction, but the mkt bore it out. I'd never driven a Tip before, but I was impressed with it driving it back to OMA. It was better than I thought it would be. I haven't driven a 986 Tip, so don't know if there were differences between the 987 version. Bottom line is the value is less than a manual.

Back to the OP's question...
If it was AOS, then $4500 would easily be the proper value. But it doesn't sound like an AOS since the smoke is white. Chances are better it's a cracked head. But rollers are worth $3K and this is better than a roller. So I would peg it at $3500 with a bad head. No issue asking $4500. Somebody might pay that. It's not like the seller is hiding anything.

Yes the car is fun to drive.
There is no leaking of oil or coolant on ground.
No froth stuff in coolant tank or oil dip stick.
Others let me know i was an idiot filling it after the 150 oil change with the duralube that over filled it technically and is causing the random smoke .

Starts and runs in drive way 15 min or so no problem or when i remember to turn it off. Keep battery fresh and. Not totally just sit...
But drive over 10 to 15 miles get a good random couple second smoke screen. No hesitation. Jo struggle or stutter. And no over heat...
Should have seen the guy thenother day come up riding my bumper and it blew smoke... Was like 007 fun.
Bond. James Bond.

Thanks guys. Know anyone that wants it.... Getting married and letting it go... :(

I would disagree....there were less tips built, while at the same time, the pool of buyers is larger for tips due to many peeps not being able to drive stick shift anymore. Supply and demand. Smaller supply, larger demand equals higher value.

My 01 S never blew smoke on startup except the week leading up to the AOS failure and occasionally after an auto-X run. That's its behavior from between 55K and 80k miles on the clock.

You could try keeping the oil 1/2 to 3/4 bars on the guage to see if that reduces it.

If not it could be a tiny AOS leak or a slightly less than perfect piston ring.

Nothing worth a lot of effort unless you start to see more symptoms or worsening smoke over time IMO.
