Passenger Airbag Cover Rattle

Issue: dash rattle isolated to the passenger airbag cover.

I've done a search on this forum and a couple of others and came up empty.

I have the Bentley info on removal of the passenger side airbag and I also have the TSB info from ALLDATA. The TSB indicates that the felt strips on the back of the airbag cover may be worn or have slipped out of position.

Does anyone here have any experience with this issue they'd be willing to share?

I have a feeling that this issue was probably resolved under warranty for most 986 owners, as the TSB is pretty old (2000), consequently, no search results.

Thanks folks!

Yes, that is correct. If the airbag bolts are tight and not the source of the rattle, replace the felt strips and even add more to make it nice and snug. The whole job may take all of 10 minutes.

Thanks PW. I found the Official Porsche Felt Strips (Filzstreifen?) at Pelican (#993 555 545 00).
I wonder if they're self adhesive or need to be glued down with Official Porsche Unicorn Snot, or some other approved adhesive...

I have a box of felt tape with a different part number but the same name: 964 555 565 00.
It is adhesive.
