Gauge Pod trim

are the gauge pods the same for a S and non S in a similar year. I have a 2001 S and was looking at a gauge cluster pod to replace my scratched one.

The non-S does not have the gauge trim rings and and the standard color of the gauge faces is white on black. (You could order black on silver as an option.) I have never looked closely, but the analog speedometer on the S may have a higher maximum speed. (I know that is the case for the 996 clusters.)

You can find instructions for taking apart the cluster here: Programming a 996 Cluster to Work in a 986 - Rennlist Discussion Forums

You could remove the plastic cover from your donor cluster and swap it onto your cluster. Then you could remove the trim rings from your S cluster cover and install them on the donor.

Different

I got my hands on a 04 Dot matrix cluster and installed it in my 01S. The problem is it was pristine perfect..now the pod that I bolted it to has some scratches and I wanted to know if S and non S were the same. I have about decided to just paint it satin black
