Cold engine coolant level inquiry

I have an 01 Boxster with 2.7L engine. I have had the car for 5 weeks and I am really loving it. I have a quick question regarding coolant level. With the engine cold the coolant level is a little below the "MIN" level. Is this ok? Should I take the car for a drive and get it up to normal operating temp and check again? If I need to top off, I will use distilled water.

My manual says to get up to operating temp., then it should be between the marks. But I'm new here.....

I work a little different - when cold, my level is just below the full mark - say 10mm below - but the downside is you can't see the level when hot, as it rises above the view finder.
I've run like this for 8 years without a problem, but the least you should do is get the coolant level at the halfway point when cold. I find its a lot easier to inspect every week or so when checking the oil level.
