Happy to be Here!
Purchased my 2001 Lapis Blue 5spd. Boxster back in May with approx. 120,000 miles and since then have been slowly bringing her back to life. Clutch died on the way home from the lot where she was purchased with just about 5km to go (knew it was on it’s last legs, just thought I could make it)! Had her towed home and then to the shop.
New LN IMS (inspected the old one and no sign of any issues), Clutch, Dual Mass FlyWheel, Bosch Battery, Pirelli Tires, Ignition, Coil Packs, Plugs and various cosmetic parts (roll bar inserts, wind deflector, rear clear lights) courtesy of fellow 986forum members have brought her up to her current condition.
Coming from a MR2 Spyder (with a 4 year gap in-between to account for the little ones), I can say that I’m truly impressed and proud to be a 986 owner. Echoing similar sentiments from other members new to Porsche… what an unbelievable vehicle that really deserves to be driven as much as you can, especially at over 4000rpm…
Looking forward to being part of the community!
Omes

Welcome to the forums! Great looking car. Two rules- don't talk about bagged milk or cats.

Enjoy the ride! Still the most fun car I ever owned.

If I'm not mistaken that is Bronte Harbour. Car looks great against the marina background.
Have fun!!

Welcome aboard! Also owning a 2001, 2.7 liter / 5-speed Boxster (and not yet having torn into the clutch / intermediate shaft bearing flange area yet), I'm curious whether your intermediate shaft bearing ended up being the single-row style, or the dual row?

hey Jakeru - it was a dual row bearing. As mentioned, didn't show any signs of distress but since was already in there for the clutch and flywheel, wanted the peace-of-mind.

Nice (and hopeful for me)... thanks!
P.S. - Those rear taillights look like they are from a later model 986 boxster. Enjoy!

Nice! Good work bringing her back. If you haven't done so already, join you local PCA region and get on the Boxster Register. Another good resource for you, and you'll meet some enthusiastic members from north of the border.

Thanks for the tip - already a member of the Upper Canada PCA, but didn't know about the Boxster registry - signing up now.

I read through your maintenance list, before seeing the pics, and thought the 986 was in worse condition (appearance) than what was needed in maintenance; It's a great looking Porche! Enjoy the ride!
