12V socket - having trouble with the depth

Hello all,

It seems as though my 12V socket isn't deep enough, as most things I plug in seem to fall out. Is there any way to add a second one (I've read something about a wiper circuit? I have the Becker 210), or replace the current one with a deeper one?

Thanks.

It may be the diameter not the length. Older p-cars have a larger diameter 12V lighter/port than was used in the US. An upgrade kit is available.

I just replaced my Euro lighter with a US spec part from Suncoast. Easy DIY. The adapter is more money than the new lighter.

New lighter: https://www.****************************************************.com/product/PK9X6LIGHTER.html

This thread (#2638) has a picture of my new lighter: http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/37273-what-did-you-do-your-boxster-today.html

As mentioned above you just need to replace the lighter socket. Very quick, simple DIY.

Here's a link to everything you ever wanted to know about 986 cigarette lighter plugs, and DIY instructions:
CB-Racing, 986 Cigarette Socket Hack

It's cheaper to buy based on the part numbers than to buy the kit (Suncoast rarely has the best prices):
Socket PN: 996.652.101.10.A05
Retaining Ring PN: 996.652.102.10

This seems to be everything I needed! Thanks, I'll look into that thoroughly.
