I finally found a bluetooth headset that I can use with the top down.
Every time I have to buy one of these things I hold out hope that it will actually be useful for answering phone calls when I have the top down. I read the reviews carefully and go with those highly recommended for filtering background noise and wind. Yet I always end up with a device with the same two shortcomings: hearing and being heard.
My latest one actually works! I can hear clear as a bell and my wife says she can hear me clearly at highway speeds (windows up). It's an Etyblu2. That's the good. The bad is it's a little geeky with it's long flexible boom but that's the key to why it works so well. The other thing is it slides into your ear an alarming distance. I didn't even know my ear canal was that deep! It's like a home trepanning kit. It takes some guts to get it seated and It's not the most comfortable thing, maybe because I don't use it that often. Other reviewers complain that it falls out, but I think they must not have it all the way in. I rigged up a holder/charger near the radio so I have a good chance of getting it turned on and into my ear before my wife hangs up. They should all come with something like this but it seems many do not. |
