anyone had their key programmed different than stock

reading eslai's response on the ipod thread, bout his gf's civic and the fob prompted my inquiry - i've debated having my keys reprogrammed so that if i unlock either of the trunks, the doors remain locked and maybe have a horn chirp or something programmed into the lock as i'm always checking the door or standing around waiting for the blinkers to blink to know it's locked.

anyone had their key reprogrammed? costs? what kinds of things can you do?

Reprogramming the system to set a horn chirp when locking/unlocking on the newer models has been frequently queried over at PPBB and I don't think it's possible. Regarding your other point, I don't know if you're aware or not, but if the car is locked and you open either trunk, but don't open one of the doors, the doors relock after 60 seconds.

sd - thanx - yeah, i did know that the car will relock itself if only the trunk are opened. well, one more thing (no satellite radio, no ipod adaptor, etc) to add to my list of what was porsche thinking when they didn't do this...
