PO446 erased, any danger?

1999 base, about 100,000 miles (125,000km). New to me since 9 months.

I was driving today and check engine light came on. Check the code with an el cheapo reader and is was P0446. The engine was running fine, no lost of power or anything. So I erased it and tighten the gas cap for prudence, albeit it seemed fine. I then drove it for 20 minutes and all was fine.

My question is because I erased the code, could this cause any damage or drivability issue? I think not but felt it better asking the experts.

Please note that the check engine light once came on last October, and the Porsche technician changed the evaporate canister. Not certain if this is relevant information.

Incidentally I read it could also be the gas cap. Where can I get a new one? Any recommendations?

P0446 is a problem with the eval canister purge line. Could be the valve or the line itself.

Safe to drive with this issue.

Here is a good link to read: Code P0446
