Thinking of buying a 2006 Cayman S

I'm looking at a lightly optioned 2006 Cayman S with 79k and the only service history is from carfax (it actually surprising complete and almost always dealer serviced). I'm trying to determine what a fair price is for the car before making and offer and getting a PPI done. The used car dealer has it for sale and orginally was asking $24k but after having the car on the lot for 120 days has dropped it to $18k. $18k based on what other like Cayman's for sale seems like a decent price with some sellers asking as much as $25k for cars with similar mileage. Looking at several online car pricing tools it's all over the board. Anything from $17k for private party to $23k for dealer.

What are your thoughts on price? Thanks.

Why has it been at the dealer for so long? That is the question I am forced to ask.

Raises my eyebrows.

What is the name of the dealer?

I have to stop my self from looking for Cayman's of that vintage. I don't use the Boxster I do have.
But those kinda of prices are about where I was for my Boxster 4 years and 35k miles ago
I suspect it's been sitting there because the price was to high. Now though, it's probably priced right so you might start seeing activity

I just did a quick Autotrader look for 300 miles around the Phila PA area. 2006-2008 S - nothing under $28k
$18k maybe one of those two good to be true

I had a 2007 Cayman S. What a great car.

I think a 2006 Boxster with about 45k miles might be worth about $19,500. The Caymans seem to go a little higher. I'd guess no more than $21k on a low mileage Cayman in pristine condition. $18k may be a good deal. Check the kbb value as well as Carfax.

What they are asking for the car, $18k, according to Edmunds is trade in value and $21k is retail. $24k that they were asking was a bit high. This dealer does not specialize in sports cars/Porsche but bought it at auction and I gueessing after sitting on the lot so long they just want it gone and their money out of it.

At $18 K this is potential Spec Cayman fodder...

Apparently I was too slow and the car sold.
