I need help guys !
for a few days now my car was flashing the battery light my battery is only year old then was the ABS light flashing ...now the car is completely dead ! I think it might be the alternator ?????

+1 on the alternator. Sure sounds like it died.
When batteries die, they can cause all sorts of other lights to flash. Are your brakes OK? |
Test your battery... when my battery died this spring I could not even jump start the car (try that) plus the dash lights were solid not flashing... so good chance your alternator is the issue. Check your fuses too and clean your connections on the battery terminals.

Battery drain
Could this be the mysterious battery drain caused by a faulty electric ignition switch?
the ignition switch is a two part mechanism, the cylinder and an electronic switch which many accessory wires connect to. When it goes bad, sometimes the accessories continue to draw juice when the ignition is completely off. Hence a slow drain. There are a bunch of threads about these problems caused by this little part. Check them out to see if your symptoms are along those lines. This is true for older boxes. Later models were redesigned I think. Larry |
Alternators are easy to test. Get a voltmeter and measure the voltage. It should be around 12 or so volts. Start the engine, and read the voltage. It should read around 13 or 14 volts. If not, it's likely the alternator.

Get a voltmeter even if nothing is wrong
