Reminissing

it's our 53 rd wedding anniversary today, I am thinking back to 1963 when we had my 1957 Austin Healey 100/6 for our honeymoon.

In some ways the Boxter is a car for its time as the Healey was in 1963, having traded my MG TD on the Healey, it seemed like a supercar, a bit of a truck by today,s standards. With apologies to any of you who own one today, they are still a great looking car.

A friend of mine had a Porsche 356b which would overheat if driven above 80 mph for long periods. The Healy would cruise happily at 100 mph.

In the days before revenue raising speed cameras,

Cheers,

Alan

Very cool Alan; Happy Anniversary. I am a few steps behind you. We are coming up on our 40th anniversary and had a 1973 Datsun 240Z for our Honeymoon. A neat car that we had until the forth kid came along. It was many years before I could step back into the sports car arena.

Congratulations Alan.

My wife & I have some catching up to do. We just celebrated our 36th anniversary at the end of March. Thinking back to 1980 we had a 1978 Fiat X1/9, another car of it's time.

Congratulation Alan! We are a bit behind you at 34 yrs. We went out and bought a 1972 MGBGT shortly after being married. We drove it until my wife couldn't get in it any longer after being pregnant with our first.

We are about to celebrate our 55th in a couple months. Our dating car and honeymoon car was a Bugeye Sprite. How my wife put up with it, and with me, are a mystery. The car is long gone (current replacement is a 2000S), the wife remains and is still as lovely as the Sprite was on its best days.

Congratulations and best wishes for continued enjoyment of life, wife, and your Boxster.

Congratulations! My first 2 cars were Austin-Healeys, first a 1960 Sprite (Bugeye or Frogeye), then a 1960 3000. The 3000 seemed so big after the Sprite at the time, now they both seem impossibly small. This was in the mid to late 1970's. I had a 1981 Mazda RX-7 when we got married in 1982!
