Winter Tires
Hi all..new Boxster owner here...I need to get new tires and I have been reading Tire Rack reviews and have a question....I was thinking I could get Continental DWS and maybe avoid snow tires in the winter. I am in NE PA and don't need to drive the car everyday (retired). Tire Rack seems to say that for light snow/slush I could use these. Anyone with any experience with these tires in the winter? Thanks in advance.

My philosophy is this: The roads in PA/NJ don't remain snow-covered for long, due to vigilant and agressive snow plowing. This makes it possible for retired people, especially, to wait until the main roads are cleared in a day or so before venturing out.
Therefore, I think that your strategy to use the DWS tires is a good one, and I have used those tires myself here in New Jersey year-round on my Boxster. As always, though, be aware of their limitations since they are not winter tires. |
Did you decide to get the DWS tires?

Yup...bought today. To be installed later this week. Continental had a $70 rebate.
