Myriad of electrical problems
So earlier the boxster was failing to start, i replaced the ignition switch then immediately the immobilizer started having problems. it would cycle locking and unlocking the doors even with the key out. i opened it up, found corrosion, took it to my local motherboard shop, they cleaned it up using iso and another chemical (which i forgot) and gave it back shiny new.
It solved the door cycling issue and the car starts right up no problems but now i have no control over the windows. if i put the top down the car will roll the windows down a third of the way and it will roll the windows back up after i close the top but i have no function at the window switch. now to be honest i was having an intermittent window problem before fixing the immobilizer board and the spoiler is stuck in up position the airbag light is on (when i scanned the car earlier this month i did receive a code for passenger door airbag but it wasnt triggering the airbag light then) the central locking is no longer working any ideas? |
Check for dampness in the floor beneath the seats. If wet = corrosion

Sounds to me like the immobilizer is not working properly, despite the cleanup. |
Windows and immobilizer?? I went thru some electrickery issues myself and didn't think they were connected.
The windows and the top are def linked and you should start to look at the top microswitch, the door latch micro switches etc.... This stuff is a real PIA. Check and clean all fuses first, then pull any relay and make sure it's the right one. We had mal-functioning wipers and it was the wrong relay. Looked right, had right plug but was wrong number. Got a voltmeter?? Check the switches for continuity, etc... |
Top, windows, all switches, turn signals, seat memory, etc. are all linked through the immobilizer. ;)
Not sure about the spoiler, though. |

The padding under the carpet us like a big foam sponge. Get it dried out as much as possible. |
I had some strange electrical issues. the Immobilizer had already been replaced. when I looked at my fuses they had weird corrosion from dampness. I replaced all of my fuses with new ones and everything worked fine.
