Reservoir coolant leak, new cap
 

I bought a new cap this morning ending 04, before I put it my engine light was on after I put it the engine light turn off. I don't know what's going on guys.. Do u have an idea?? I drove the car until the engine heated with valve up.. The water coolant still leaking and I will try it about 3 times to see if my problem leaking could resolve. Give me more idea guys cuz I have an appointment to replace the tank.. Hopefully the leak will stop before I go if there is no crack

Is the tank over-filled with coolant?

No it wasn't on max

I just changed the pressure relief valve on mine. It was overflowing coolant.
Now nice and dry. I used the Porsche part, valve two O rings and new screws.

You need to open the little spring valve on the coolant tank. Leave it up for a day of driving and the trapped air will bleed out . Drive into the garage, close the spring thing and You should be good to go.:cheers: Take a look in the trunk (in oil and coolant cap area) and you will see the spring valve thing that I mention. Hope that helps. I had the same problem and this totally cured the problem.

I wonder how often the tank or cap are needlessly replaced because of the air bleeding issue being overlooked?

Thanks guys... The mechanic cancel my appointment today, This morning I followed a link a member have sent to me about pull the valve up and run the car for few days maybe there is air in the system! I pup up with distilled water! It seems almost good, after driving it I saw a small water from the tank but not a lot than before, maybe need a bit air purge again.

I have a question... After driving with valve up to purge the air do I have to put the Valve off when I park? Or do I have to leave it like that until no coolant leaking? Because every driving I put down the D. Thanks

The valve can be left up for a few days and as the coolant cools down, air will burp up to the tank slowly but surely. Parking with the tail high will also help as the 2 or 3 radiator up front are the real issue with trapped air.

Make sure to check under the rear carpet for coolant, just to make sure you don't have a cracked tank...

Yes Jon I check in the rear carpet and I have water... If there is water in the rear carpet is that mean the tank is crack?

Honestly, the expense of re-filling under pressure is worth the peace of mind.
You also want to make sure the tank is holding the minimum required pressure.
How old is the coolant? Is it all the same pink color?
if you mix cheap coolant with the pink Porsche coolant it will waste the protective additives.
Generally this is not an area where you want to take chances or guesses.

This is why getting a new cap is a good idea whenever you flush the coolant, replace the tank or just decide to test for leaks is a good idea.

I just replace the cap for the new one because I had the one ending 00, before replacing I had more water in the trunk, now not much. Yes I had mixed the water last summer and I didn't drive it for the winter. Yesterday I made a test like to try to put out the air and when I checked I still saw the water in the trunk but not much than before! I have an appointment next week to do the complete system flush and a test in the reservoir tank.

If you have water/coolant under the carpet back by the tank then that's is 99% a cracked tank.
