Top Down in Garage

I have been really driving my Boxster on nice days only recently so it has been sitting in the garage with the top down. This isn't an 'extended' period of time, but are there any issues with leaving the top down for awhile? Should the top always be up when the car isn't being driven?

Any insight on issues or problems this could cause would be great.

Thx.

I don't know anything as fact, but i believe the top gets left down for long periods in order for people to put the hardtop on the car. I assume that means it does no harm. Even so, I generally put the top up. Will leave it down every once in a while but I'm sure it's never gone 2 nights in a row like that.

I wouldn't think there would be any mechanical issues. If you have a plastic rear window, it may take more time to straighten out once you put the top up. So it's probably just a consideration of extraneous conditions such as dust, water leaks, and varmints that may want to cozy up in your cockpit and munch on stuff.

My ragtop is down about 4 months a year while hardtop is on. Have not seen any ill effects. I make certain that it is very dry before putting it down. I always leave the soft top up overnite.

Had a friend that looked at a crash damaged Box that had been sitting for several years with the top down. His comment was that the top was junk because of the experience.
A few months folded can't be too bad for one, though. Otherwise I would think hard top users would be picketing PCNA offices on a daily basis.

All winter with the hard top on, actually most of last year with the crap English weather!, and the soft top is perfect. Just watch out for the spiders!
