Steering Column Clunk
Hi,
I have been battling an irritating clunk on my 98 Boxster that refuses go away. The vehicle now has all new suspension parts front and rear , new brakes, new tires, tracking done at the dealership, but the problem persists. The best way for me to describe is a clunk (metal on metal) in the steering column. My question to the fellow members here is ,are there any bushings in the steering column that are prone to failure?. I have spent some time on the web searching for this and not coming up with anything specific. Also, attaching some pictures based on my research, is the part in pic#1 the possible culprit. There's a plastic sleeve where the column goes through the firewall that is known to go bad or fall out

Is it difficult to fix?
