More header questions
If I was to put headers on my car, what would be the size of the replacement bolts? I was under there today and they looked pretty rusty. I wouldn't want to reuse them. So I sprayed them with some Kroil just in case I want to attempt to take the old ones off.

According to the Porsche parts catalog, this "hexagon head bolt" is M8 x 28mm.
If you want to source OE, the Porsche part number is 900 378 131 00. A quantity of 12 is called for. |
I got my replacement bolts from the dealership for about $2 per bolt. I bought 12 of them and only used 8 because the Fabspeed headers that I have need a bolt that do not have the flared bolt head like the OEM bolts have.

I'd throw some heat on them before removing them also. Those header bolts love to break even on low mile rust free boxsters down here.

Hey Tommy, what headers are you putting on?

Thanks for the info guys. Chuck I'm not sure yet. I may not even do it. I ordered a cheap set from amazon and I didn't like the kink in one of the pipes so I sent it back. I have a thread on here about it. http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/60798-does-header-look-normal.html I may go with a set of Manzo, the collector on this brand looks like a little better design. But with the trouble I had getting the caliper bolts out last year, I might be better off skipping this project  |
