Fried egg headlight Porsches not worth much - apparently this is not completely true

At a estimated $2.5m pounds there is at least one fried egg headlight Porsche that is worth alot of money.

Interesting. I've never heard of a 911 Evolution or any mid-engine 911 for that matter. From what I can tell this is a GT-1 which does in fact share it's face closely with the 986 and earliest 996.

Personally, i like the 986/996 headlights.

It says that it has a 3.2L engine that develops 600bhp.

That seems to defy the laws of physics and thermodynamics and I have to call BS on that reporters fact.

Perhaps it had a bigger engine for racing with 600bhp and the current engine that is converted for road use at 3.2l develops much less hp.

Interesting car though.

I think the fried egg headlights are just another feature that sets the 986 apart for the rest, and see nothing aesthetically wrong with them, even ambered.

Perhaps I'll paint my spare racing rims that amber color to match

3.2 water cooled twin turbo. 600HP is easy for that engine.

Gt1

It is in fact a GT1 Evo, though it has been converted to be street legal.

Not to be confused with the factory street-legal GT1 Strabbenversions (sic), this car has a race history. It doesn't really say how or where it was certified for road use, but I imagine a large bag of small bills was involved.

1997 Porsche 911 GT1 Evolution | Monaco 2016 | RM Sotheby's

Lots of good reading at the Sothebys site, but here's the detail on the engine:

"600+ bhp, 3,164 cc air- and water-cooled horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine with two KKK turbochargers and Bosch electronic fuel injection, five-speed manual transmission"
