I've just seen two incredible £1,000,000 Porsches

Both of them are £1,000,000 each.

The first is this brand new Porsche 918 Spyder:

And the second?

This all-original Porsche 964 Turbo S Leichtbau, with delivery miles on the clock. They've said it won't sell for under £1,000,000. It's the only one in the world in as-new condition as this. This Leichtbau was a one-off from the factory, finished in Polar Silver metallic paintwork with special request Flamenco Red leather

So both are Porsches, both are around £1,000,000, but around 30 years age difference.

Which one would you rather have?

BoxsterSteve 03-23-2016 11:36 AM

Oh, buddy no contest. The 964 hands down.

Racer Boy 03-23-2016 01:07 PM

I'd pick the 918. Once you start driving the 964, then most of it's appeal (at least from a value standpoint) gets lost.

Also, selling the 918 would be easier, so I'd immediately sell it and buy an bunch of other cars that I've always wanted. 1,000,000 pounds would buy some nice cars!

Perfectlap 03-23-2016 02:03 PM

So does that mean that after 1 track day the 964 is worth $60K again?

I have a hard time believing someone will pay $2.4 million for a 964.
That's a mediocre 550 Spyder money.
Is there even a 73 RS that has sold for that?

Porsche9 03-23-2016 02:28 PM

While the 964 turbo is a nice car and I'd love to have one to drive there is no way this one is worth that kind of money just because it's never been driven. At this point it a museum piece that would need a good amount of work to get it in drivable condition.

geraintthomas 03-23-2016 02:45 PM

There's an article on it. One with 30,000 miles on it sold for £350,000. Crazy though! But very beautiful.

And also a crying shame.

BIGJake111 03-23-2016 04:03 PM

964 being my least favorite air cooled I'd much rather get a 918 and maybe a 993 wide body if I could.

That being said though the cars are worth a bit extra for the comedic aspect of the name "Dick Lovett" being plastered to them.

geraintthomas 03-24-2016 08:14 AM

I also laughed at that, hah.

Smallblock454 03-24-2016 09:25 AM

£1,000,000 for a RHD 964. Nope - never. :D ;)

Also i'm not shure if the silver car is really a 964 Turbo RS Leichtbau. Because in general they had side air intakes.

I think the car pictures does have side air intakes, it's just hidden by the side view.

I would give a fair few organs for a 993 turbo S.

stelan 03-24-2016 11:43 AM

918 spyder would be top in my list

tomonomics 03-25-2016 01:13 PM

With the current exchange rate it's about $1.4 million USD.

It is a Leichtbau, but at that price I'd still go Spyder.

And by the way, that's a REALLY RED interior....

That's the same car :)

And it's not that red in the skin, it's just the photo. Has a good look at it for around 20 mins!

geraintthomas 03-31-2016 12:07 PM

So I went back and the 964 Turbo S was sold. It sold for a mere £600,000!

I had a chance to speak to the owner, as I've spoken to him a few times before in the past. He said "Ah not to worry, I've got another one coming in."

Apparently it's another super rare 964 Turbo S Leichtbau, yet again with delivery miles on it. But this time it's number 86 of 86 made, so this one's going to be worth even more.

Why the hell do people buy these beautiful cars to sit and do nothing. Keeping things unused and in its packaging is good for an action figure, not a gorgeous performance Porsche.

It's criminal.

At least I sat in his Aventador and had a little go of it.
