Transmission lockout locks up!

Okay, that was weird and freaky!
I'm running my daily driver through a tunnel car wash car in neutral, hands off the wheel, and near the end, there are some bumps and jolts like the rear wheels are going over something rough. The green light tells me to go, and it won't go into drive at all. The button and shifter are completely frozen.
The freaky part is that the cars behind me are coming up on the conveyer belt and I can't get out of the way! As a last ditch, I turn off the motor and re-start it, and it works fine! I speed out of the way of the cars coming through the blow-dry.

Now what happened there?? Is there an electronic lockout module or something that can get wet? Or did my Tiptonic tranny lock up temporarily along with the back wheels for some reason?

PS: go ahead and make your jokes about never running your Porsche through a tunnel wash.... Hey, it's all I have time for with my schedule.
