19X10 ET 37 on 986S rear?
I've got a 2001S and am currently drooling over some 19" wheels that have a 2.5" lip but only a 37 offset.
It looks like folks successfully run 40 offset 10" rears from other P cars, but the offset doesn't tell me how wide those wheels are from the hub to the outer rim. I'd plan to run Michelin Pilot Sport tires in 265/30/19 for the rear if I get these. I'm wondering would this slightly less than 40 offset and 2.5" lip would clear the fenders? Anyone have a setup like this on a 986? |
Bump. Nobody?

Hang tight, there are a lot of advanced guys who will answer you soon!

19's were not an option on the 986, so you'll have to find folks that have tried them which is a relatively small number.
you've tried this? https://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator |
Thanks guys. That calculator is useful Dlirium. I guess the thing I wasn't considering is that the offset measurement is from the center of the wheel so the amount of lip doesn't make a difference since there should be half of the wheel on either side of center. That was confusing me since they are 3 pc wheels and I had the outer barrel measurement given.
It looks like it would be very close, and may come down to the tires if I get these. Cheers, -J |
The smaller the offset number, the more they project from the center of the car.
The opposite of what one might think. |
Sorry for the slow reply but here's the link that answers a lot about wheel offset for the Boxster 986. Just look at the pics of Johnny Danger's yellow Boxster with 19x10 with 31 offset at the rear. http://986forum.com/forums/performance-technical-chat/30248-19-vs-18-wheels-tires.html
Wish I could use 19" but mine's a '97 base so it's wiser to limit the size to an 18" |
37 offset will fit and clear in the rear ...that's what I have in mine..19x10 37 0ffset
