Yea, I see a lot of boxsters in my area. Specially my neighboor's Ferrari Enzo behind my house. Effin sweet  This was taken last year with my crappy camera. He also got a Ferrari 360 and he drove it during the winter time. Guess what, he made a 360 turn in the middle of my intersection around my hood. He was just playing around with it.

Boxster in my area is like seein bigfoot. People are funny they just assume they cost 100k. When I tell them I paid 20k they are like, "damn I paid more than that for my Grand Am."

Well, it seems someone opened a Boxster flood gate this weekend around here (Orlando FL). I’ve had mine now for a little over two months and have seen two or three in that time. This weekend.. each time I went out on the road I saw at least tow Porches. I know I saw at least seven (different) Boxsters this weekend.

"the other day was talking my ear off about buying his wife a new $50k Expedition"
Next week he will be jawing about how much gas costs and blaming "BIG OIL" Clueless, yes. |
I just moved to a gated communtiy in Bergen County New Jersey.
One other Boxster a half block away, A blue Cayman, Saw a C4S parked across the street and a 928 to the other side, oh and a 968 parked right in front of my own place this weekend. But no Cayennes yet. Weird.. I only drive weekends really so I'd say I see Maybe one other Boxster a day. I usually travel south to the Beaches or North to NYC. 911's are much more common than Boxsters and Cayennes the most common Porsche by far. As far as CaymanS so far I've only counted two in the wild. (not including the two Ray Catena Porsche lent out during a PCA autocross). I've had the Boxster since late 04 and still get at least two comments every time. My 986S trunk badge has prompted a few questions of "is that a Boxster or 911?" :D Little kids seemed to be the most impressed they just stare like this  oh and An early 20's girl pulled over next to me in Her Acura TSX the other night and said I had the 'sexiest car around". errr thanks. |
I see too many in Tampa :)
Wait, can you ever see too many Boxsters? :) |
There are at least two here in the capitol area of Michican. I'm one of them. The other is a yellow one zipping about with a smile.
2000 Arctic Silver. |
I've never seen a boxster in the Boston financial district but I have seen 1 on the freeway going home on occasion, but that's about it.
I've seen more 911's than boxster. |
Here in Upstate NY (Rochester) I see soooooo many Cayennes on the road. Boxsters and 911's are relatively unique. Swear I see the same 4 of each at least once a week.
Corvette C5's all over the place... and C6's are startting to become more prevalent. Actually saw my first Lotus Elise as it passed me on the highway at about 100 mph. Seriously low and tiny. Almost kit car like... but cool. |
Anyone see a Carrera GT ? NYC area? Rare beast..
Let me know where I can chase one.. |
I am actually quite surprised, but I see quite a few here in Cary, NC. Probably at least 1 Boxster a day and 3 996/997s per week. And there are a couple of Turbo S Cabs in the area too.
I guess it helps that we have a Porsche dealership in town too. |
Where are they?
In Long Island NY the Boxsters are very limited and rarely seen. Since my highway drive is 10 minutes long the exposure is very limited. I would say I've seen more 911's of all years than Boxsters easily. Maybe one a week in Boxsters or less to one a week of 911. Not that many Porsches here driving when I drive.
|
I live in San Pedro so i see none there, But on my drive to work through Torrance and Palos Verdes, I see about 1 boxster every 30 seconds...all of them have a Man driving, I see more carrera than boxster and the guy to women ratio is 50/50 in a carrera.
|
Here in Roseville, California, Boxsters are everywhere. Can't drive across town without seeing at least 3 or 4. Sometimes, this makes for feeling like your not driving anything too special. Then... you take that corner designed for 25 mph at 50 or 55 and everything is right with the world once again!

I think I've seen 5 in the last 4 months. 2 each on the local 'Vette dealer's lot (both bought at auction and turned back out at auction); 2 each local owned; saw the other on the interstate as it was passing through the area.
Sad thing - TONS of beemer Z-3s and Corvettes. Good thing - it's nice being a little different. I think folks are under the (false) perception that these cars are way more expensive and way more complicated than the others... kindof a nice little secret ain't it?... |
We are so lucky to have a Boxster
I see more Boxsters and 911s on the North Shore.
I do live in the Lake Success area and if anything people who know cars will compliment the Boxster, people driving Jap cars like the Inifinity have giving me thumbs up many times as well as Mustangs and the likes. The reality is that I bought the car for myself and I don't need anybodys approval for my selection. The car is great as far as I am concerned it has a great timeless design, excellent reliability, brakes second to none and goes like a bat out of hell. |
I am curious. Which state & country has the largest number of Porsche owners?
State: 1)LA 2)Washington DC 3)New York Country: 1) USA 2) England 3) France |
It's Porsche country where I live in Maryland. I usually see one Boxser a day, more on weekends. I see about 2 911 per each Boxster. Curiously, Boxster S are rare. I'd say 90% are plain Boxsters. We always signal each other or flash the high beams, like a brotherhood.
|
I was just in Vancouver, BC for five days. During that time I didn't see a single 987, but i saw about ten 986 on the roads. Also saw one 360 Spyder and a 430 Spyder.
So, more Ferraris than 987. How odd. |

I think Southern California has more Porsche owners then the rest of the world. Do you agree? |
If it makes you feel better, $15-$20K+ a year in property taxes isn't all that unusual here on Long Island. The mid-teen figure is often for a quarter acre or 60 x 100. And we DO have a relatively hefty state income tax, not to mention the local 8.625% sales tax. We might just be first in the nation in taxes. Lucky us! :barf: |
I live in Brea, CA. You can't drive around for more than 10 minutes and not see a P-car. Along my street alone, 18 or so homes - three 986 and two 996.
|
Not common at all. I live in a small rural college town of 20,000(including the school) and I have the only boxster here. No base models or S's. If there are other boxster owners in Charleston Illinois they keep them locked up tight because I haven't seen them. There is however a 996 cabbie owner in the town next to us about 10 miles away in Mattoon IL.

San Francisco's Awash
I live in the re-developed South Beach District of San Francisco and in my apartment's garage, which holds about 100 cars, there are currently 4 Boxsters (including mine) and 3 911s alone. There are even a couple of (crazy) owners that park theirs on thesurrounding streets. Here in the Bay Area of Northern California they are very common As for the countries, I used to work in Frankfurt quite often and there were a lot of Porsches there. As a British citizen though, I can certify there are far more Porsches here in California than in the UK...though this is probably as much due the glorious British weather as to anything else! R |
