So I changed my oil.

I replaced filter and added just below 9.25 quarts. I noticed the oil indicator says the oil is one bar below the full line, so above middle. Is that okay or should I pull some out. I went a little low so I wouldn't overfill so I am surprised it registers a bit high. I haven't check the dpi stock yet. I did run the car to 180. Thoughts?

Dip stick, not whatever I wrote above.

That is right where you want it. But check the dipstick because sometimes the digital isn't accurate. 9.25 is more than I can usually get in there.

And....

.....despite what the owner's manual says, check it after she has sat for three nights without running to get an accurate reading.

On these engines, a little too little, is WAY better than a little too much.

The flat engine sump design can handle a lower oil level without drama better than other designs.

I read the 9.25 quarts in the Bentley manual for a filter change. Maybe I read something wrong.

9.25 is probably right if you can get all the oil out and let it drain for at least an hour. I've never been able to get that much out. I usually end up filling between 8.5 and 9

DWBOX2000 03-08-2016 04:11 PM

It drained for over 20 minutes, tilted, level. Probably an hour.

DWBOX2000 03-08-2016 04:14 PM

Oh, I probably got closer to 9. I am assuming the lines on the side of the mobile one 5 quart each represent a quart. Lines on left. 2 jugs, left with just one jug at just above the bottom line.

DWBOX2000 03-08-2016 04:16 PM

Sorry lines on right. I'm losing my mind. I wish they would put the #'s on the side versus just a line.

Lol @ rapid fire posts. Take a deep breath...

I recently did oil changes on three of mine. The level looked great on the cluster and dipstick right after I filled it. The next day it was 2 marks higher on the cluster and noticeably a little higher on the dipstick. I'm not sure if it was from the oil settling in, or from being out of level.

It's easy to drain a little oil out if it is high by just pulling the filter housing and dumping it.

I do 9. No more, 9.25 would be ok but do not add more
