I haven't got her home yet and I'm already thinking of what to do first...

PS: Thanks for all the advice and info from all you guys on the form.

Cheers!
Bart

Congrats.

But remove that ugly rear spoiler. And the aero kit side skirts are also not original. The "R50 Jahre 550 Spyder" doesn't have that stuff.

Regards, Markus

Congratulations!!! Great find.

10/10ths 03-05-2016 07:39 PM

Welcome to the party, Pal!

Now, like the man said, ditch that spoiler and body kit. Yikes!

thstone 03-05-2016 07:45 PM

Congratulations! Looks like a great car and those wheels are very nice. I also like the darker interior - what is that color called?

BIGJake111 03-05-2016 08:04 PM

Can we get a close up of your exhaust tip?

AaronPDX 03-05-2016 08:08 PM

You guys are rough! This guy's all proud of his new car and he gets blasted because it doesn't fit some people's taste.

Agreed. Great car and great find. But also agree with others. You don't post on here to not get noticed and/or comments. Beautiful car but more so without the spoiler and ground kit! Enjoy the car. You will love it!

walt2810 03-05-2016 09:14 PM

Congrats & enjoy the ride. love the color combo

Interior: Cocoa.
Exterior: GT silver.

PS: i don't wanted to be harsh. But i really don't like the rear spoiler, and this is a special limited edition car, which loose value if you modify it.

This is the OEM look:

https://www.classicdriver.com/sites/...1993/img01.jpg

So somebody had also put the old style taillights in. Should also be removed.

Regards, Markus

Sweet car!! Welcome to the SE family. The best of the 986's without a doubt. If you like the kit & spoiler it's cool, I prefer stock. To each his own. Is the carpet gray? Hmmm..

BoxsterSteve 03-06-2016 03:21 AM

Bart,
Your car looks fabulous. Just love it!

Did the dealer perform the 100k service?
If not, that should be your first order of business. If it didn't come with records, you may consider catching up on some pretty easy stuff that is often passed over: coolant flush and water pump, brake fluid flush, CV boot inspection and potentially most troubling, that pesky IMS thingy.

BRAN 03-06-2016 04:10 AM

Congrats, the pearl of the 986 family.
I love the cocoa interior, it is my favorite.

Although that additional spoiler actually does look "okay", i am not sure about its purpose.
Do you have an aerokit front spoiler or a spoiler lip, which needs to be balanced? If not, I would get rid of it.
Sideskirts don't affect the balance, so I would keep 'em. Color seems not quite matching though, might be the photo. If the sideskirts are installed properly, you will have 11 screw holes on each side to deal with!

All in all...a car to be very proud of

bobbeck 03-06-2016 04:39 AM

Nice find! Rear spoiler must go.

jpl2407 03-06-2016 04:55 AM

Congrats, it looks very nice, is that a Boxster S gauge cluster, I thought they were white.

10/10ths 03-06-2016 04:59 AM

Welcome...Congrats!!

Sorry to be harsh.

I know you are as excited as I was last year when I bought my "50 Years of 550 Spyder" edition.

You will LOVE her.

The wing and side skirts are unfortunate.

BigBlock454, the tail lights on his car are NOT aftermarket. The USA cars received all red tail lights. Here they are on my car:

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1457272769.jpg

Enjoy!

Timco 03-06-2016 05:00 AM

Great car. Son, you will not be disappoint.

Thanks for the info. The EU version has the 2004 taillights, like in the picture postet above.

And it's just Smallblock454, not big. ;) Or better, just call me Markus - that's my name. ;)

The 2004 Boxster SE is my favorite of all 986s. And that color combination is also my favorite. Great find. I never give anyone a hard time about mods. We all see things differently. Enjoy.

Ditto:cheers: Enjoy your new ride and welcome! You are now going to go into the garage for any reason just to look and good luck getting rid of that smile:D

I have the spoiler and skirt kit on mine along with Spyder wheels and I think it sets it apart beautifully. :cheers:http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1457281720.jpg

Just realized the fairing on back didn't show up very well in the first photo.

Thanks Guys... For welcoming me to the club.
I'm really looking forward to driving and working on it.

I think for now I'm going to leave it as is until I get to know the car.

I'm going to take BoxsterSteves advice and get the 100K service done and some other things.
Does anyone know what all the 100K service includes?
I think my first order of business is to install get a new radio/nav. Any recommendations?

Question for you guys?
Are there any Porsche clubs in GTA/Muskoka?
Any good Indy's in the Muskoka area?

Man I can't wait till spring........

Happy Boxstering All.
(PS: I'm jealous to all those who can right now)

Giller 03-06-2016 07:58 AM

Join the PCA - which will also give you membership to the PCA - Upper Canada Region. They are very active and have lots of socials and runs. Boxster Steve and I did the Muskoka Run last fall - was awesome. Joining is the best way to take advantage of your new Porsche.

The 100k service includes pollen filter, oil change, fuel filter (for my 2000 anyway), air filter, serpentine belt and plug change. Plus a bunch of inspection items listed in your maintenance schedule.

I had done a pre-hibernation oil change, and think a pollen filter in a convertible is one of the stupidest things ever. Having thus ranted, I got everything else for just over $200 shipped from AutoPartsWay.

There are several good indies in The Big Smoke and two in KW. Nothing I know of in Muskoka.
These are really easy DIY cars. I've done all the maintenance on mine save the IMSR and CV boots.

There's a GTA/905 group that meets the 4th Sunday every month... Haven't been out yet, but it's on the list, and Giller nailed it with the PCA UCR. Great group of people. Looking forward to some runs this coming season.
You could also join Giller and I for our unofficial "Boxsters Anonymous" runs.

Those all had "Cocoa Brown" interiors.

Congrats, MM. I love the cocoa/silver on the SE cars, as well as the wheels. Have a well respected indie give it a thorough going over, and try to do everything they recommend. But my two cents is don't focus on a new radio (the real music is the induction/exhaust sound) - focus on addressing the IMSB. The single row bearing models have higher failure rates. For my 03 it was worth $$ for peace of mind. Best of luck with it!

I've always loved the Cocoa interior and 2 tone wheels on the SE. Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the forum.
My car is a 2002 base so it didn't have any aerokit parts, but I added those same AerokitII sideskirts and the matching front bumper and splitter. They are OEM parts that I think really sets it apart! I added the GT# Tek rear diffuser to balance it out. Everyone has their own opinion on modifications,,, that's part of what makes the forum fun.
