Boxster Newbie
Yo fellow Boxsters,
I am about to pick up my 2001 Boxster 3.2 manual:dance: today . I got a mechanic to give it a good check over and he said it was in a very good condition. Any feedback regarding general maintenance, care, etc., on a daily, weekly basis would be more than appreciated. I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia where the temperature ranges between 10 degrees C to 35 degrees C year round. This has nothing to do with the Boxster, I just threw that in for you North Americans, Canadians, Pommies etc. Anyway, I am looking forward to years of happy motoring driving my dream car. All the Best Lenny T:dance: |
Congrats Lenny! It's great to see someone so excited about their new car! I have had my 02 for about 6 months and every time I get in it, it's a new thrill. Climate aside, we all have a common bond - great Porsches!! Enjoy.

Hi Everyone, I bought my Boxster S a few months ago. Not my first Porsche and really enjoying the handling. It has been lowered by the previous owner and I'm still undecided as to leaving it that way. Any opinions?
Hi Len and welcome. I'm new here too. I live in Ireland where it rains most of the time but who cares just enjoy the the drive. @ paulofto....... A Pommie is an Englishman (slang term) :-) Attachment 20116 |
A Pommie is slang for an Englishman, which goes back a couple of hundred years when most immigrant white people were prisoners who where deported to Australia for various crimes like stealing, pickpocketing or just because the magistrate didn't like the look of you. POM = Prisoner of her Majesty.
Welcome Len, I'm on the Sunshine Coast so not too far from you.... Give us some details of your car when you can. There's a wealth of knowledge on here, just don't get caught up with Timco's rhetoric rear fog lights not working.... |
I thought Pommie meant "Prisoner of Mother England" and referred to English expats who thought that England still ruled the world. Not so? Does that just apply to those referred to as "Pommie bastards"? That aside, welcome... and enjoy.

Properly clean and UV/Waterproof your top. I hate seeing ragity rag tops after doing mine.
Properly clean and treat you leather regularly. These are both things that are often overlooked and will extend the life to avoid costly repairs to keep it all fresh and not looking like the 15 year old car that it is. |
ask Timco
Ask Timco all oil and tire questions as well as rear fog light info
|
Congratulations Lenny. Welcome aboard.

That's a new one to me - I've never heard that expression before, but who knows.
You Yanks called the British Limy's which I've always believed was derived from the sailors storing & eating limes to combat scurvy when sailing to the New World..... |

And Splitfire plugs. The fog light thing is only funny because I was totally stumped when I bought it. Got my meter out and all. Doh!!! |
