Dang, that's gorgeous, Turbo!

dayum...really great looking cars, guys.
Seems that most owners don't care about the window trim outline on the top (depending on the car color of course, if it is a very dark or black color, it doesn't matter), but tightbox did a really good job there. |
I realized that I never posted a link to DRR where I bought my Z-top.
Boxster Hardtops - Home I am itching to get started on my top, but it is way too damn cold right now. I need to order hinges and a trunk lock loop from Woody. As soon as it warms up, I will be getting it fitted and painted! |
Local's
Anyone near Los Angeles have one, installed ?

The top comes with a 14 page installation manual, side and rear windows and parts. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1487007983.jpg First impressions: The roof is much lighter and firmer than I expected (without the windows). There are minor grooves and chips here and there, but hey, I did not expect German built quality. The roof (most probably) needs to be trimmed alongside the little removable side covers on our cars. A dremel or Nakai-san should be your friend there :D http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1487007631.jpg Recommendation was: take your time, let the roof sit on your car for a couple of days (btw...optimal conditions are pointing more towards the end of spring with ~20-25°C...lol...I have no heater in my garage, so barely above freezing temperature in there atm...lol), then re-adjust and ALWAYS make sure, that the windshield-roof alignment is perfect throughout the whole adjustment process...so much for the very welcome tips of the seller. After the step-by-step adjustments are done, grooves/chips/and maybe holes ('cuz you cut away too much) are filled...then sanding, primer and the whole shebang...after that windows, seals, rubber, light and the other shebang:rolleyes: ...to be continued |
Hey guys,
not quite sure if there are so called "corner rubbers" for the top missing (additional to the seal rubbers)? The manual mentions them. |
So I was lucky enough to get a Z-top, just before the distributor for Germany/Netherlands stopped his business. ksjohn, how is yours coming along?

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1491407357.jpg so i guess it is not necessary anymore? The provided front rubber seal is pretty thin as well, contrary to the photo  |
hmmm, seems so. mine is a few generations older than yours. the front seal compresses considerably when fully installed and latched-up.
