Boxster ignition confused?

Hi there,

I have finally managed to buy my very own Boxster (a 1999 2.5), but just weeks into owning it the key in the ignition is doing strange things, and now it won't let me lock the car with the key fob!!?

Being a girl, I'm not that technical, but can't afford to take it to a dealer!! Any suggestions? Has anyone heard of this before?

Thanks
xxx

Hi,

Sorry to hear of your troubles. A couple suggestions: Try pulling the Battery in the remote and reversing it for 5 sec., then reposition it properly and see if that doesn't clear the issue. Next, try replacing the Remote Battery altogether. Next, try disconnecting the Battery (Radio Code in-hand!), wait 5 min., then reconnect.

If all this is no-joy, then it's likely your Ignition Switch. This is a $30 part and you can change it yourself with a couple tools, some knowledge and a little confidence. If interested, I'd be happy to forward the procedure to you, just PM me. Hope this helps...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
