Rare Option Museum

I once made a thread to catalog and see examples of colors for the Boxster and it was great to see some of the more rare colors.

I've created this thread to catalog rare options on Boxsters and to see examples from actual owners.

So if you have a rare factory option on your car we'd love to have pics of all the options here in one place.

Some things worth looking for:

Factory Aero Kit.

Parking Sensors.

Porsche Sport Exhaust. (Would love a video on this one.

Wood trim and carbon fiber interior.
(Is it real?)

If your car has anything unique on it that you don't see everyday in a Boxster Craigslist search, feel free to post.

OK, here's one of the rarest: The factory cell phone option

Here's my '99 Boxster Ocean Jade Metallic with sport seats and several different sport packages.

My two '99 aerokit/hardtop Boxsters. The black car has the M030 suspension package. The blue car has the early navigation package. (Big bucks at the time, now pretty worthless).

@redtele58 I had a feeling you could fill up half of this thread on your own haha!

Also I never knew there was a car phone option, I'd feel so much more retro if my car had that.

Here's a 2003 S with a lipstick red (not Boxster red) interior with sport seats. I hope to be able to buy this car from the owner someday (he special ordered it, picked it up at the factory and brought it back to the states) - it's the most unique factory interior I've seen.

That lipstick red interior is fantastic.

Luv2Box 01-18-2016 03:38 PM

Wow! They're all cool. My '99 Box looks naked now.:ah:

I guess my cars colored belts, deviated stitching, and supple leather could be considered as somewhat rare so I'll add that.

I'd really love to get a video on the PSE with baffles opened and closed.

Hey Big Jake - check this yellow Boxster out - aero kit, speedster humps and 18" wheels for starters!

I've got crested headrests, and red seat belts. I like those sport seats...

Agreed. Very cool options.

I also added the painted rear console.

Hey Jake.... I added the factory PSE to my Boxster. I had an '03 modified my FDM before installing the PSE. The FDM sounded much better. IMHO, the PSE are way to quiet. I deleted the secondary cats just to get some decent sound. Now the looks of PSE are something special!

Retroman1969 01-18-2016 05:36 PM

Man there's some cool stuff on here!

Does that funky green full leather interior count?

I'm really digging Jake's interior with its extra touches, and that lipstick red!

PS: I'm starting to think RedTele58 has the world's largest private Boxster collection. :D

Not saying it's rare, but I've Google and searched and stressed looking for my color combination interior. Mainly the seats. Every inch of my dash is full leather except the OEM plastic center vents. The other vents are leather. But the seats, are red with black center. I've never seen it before and even tried finding them by Google searches. I've seen full red but not red and black.

That is the plan, I'm dying everything black since the seats are destroyed and the new replacement skins won't match. So all plastic panels will be red carbon and the rest black leather with hopeful red stitching

Darkstar, that's neat but it's not factory. I'm guessing your po had that done.
