Best Boxster Memories?
 

Lots of Boxsters in the garage right now and people busy doing upgrades and repairs so the forum is a bit slow.

For a pep up, let's all take turns bragging about our Boxsters and experiences we've had in them.

Having a friend destroy my clutch & flywheel on his 33rd birthday. Says it was the best gift ever. It got me a new IMS so I'm not mad. We split the bill, so really not mad. Plus it makes nice garage art.

I've only owned my Box since late Sept. and although I've a few twisty fun runs with the PCA, my best memory is flying from Boston to Ft. Lauderdale to buy it and driving it home with a 1,500 mile Permagrin [emoji3]

Yeah, I think that first drive home is a winner! I drove mine from Sacramento, through the mountains, across some desert, said hi to Graceland, up through the Blue Ridge mountains, over the Canadian border and into Montreal; home! 9 days later.

You've got me beat, NewArt, that's quite a road trip!

It's probably safe to assume that nobody will admit to losing their virginity in the back seat....

I would argue that space consuming activities are ergonomically impossible in the Boxster...

My trips to 24 hrs. and Sebring with my son every year. This year he will is 14. Hope to do this with him till i am dead.

The day PCNA notified me that they would cover 90% of the cost of the new engine after the IMS puked itself. Also the day the secondary dealer I bought the car from agreed to cover the other 10 percent AND a new clutch.

Driving to the Black Hills in mid September when the tourists have dissipated and the amazing roads were almost RV and bus free but the top down weather was still going strong.

As great as mountain drives are and such. My favorite has to be some sort of night drive, none in particular. Just feeling young and free, driving with the dash lit up, windows down and cool air. Maybe on the way to or from a date night or job interview.

No event in particular but it seems anytime I'm heading home in the box from 10 to 12 it feels like magic.

I have tickets to the 12 hours of Sebring and the Porsche corral.. Might even be able to drive the road course if I'm in the first 100. Hope Hope I do not track my S so this is the next best thing.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1453068759.jpg

I was walking back to the car, and some 10yo kids were walking with their parents a couple meters ahead.

Overheard: "Oooooooh look!" Then his tone changes to disappointment. "Aw man, I thought it was a Ferrari."

I laughed and laughed...

and cried.

Christmas morning last year. Getting gas some guy walks up with story line I just filled up but don't have any money, can you help me out
Feeling scam, I said no. He walks away, I hear him mumbling "he's got a porsche and he can't spare any money"
Memorable, not best

2014 - Driving back to PA from the Blue Ridge Boxster Summit, I stopped at a roadside rest to stretch my legs among other duties. I had just gotten back in my car and started to put the top down when a niddle aged couple & their 3 young girls were walking by. The girls stopped dead in their tracks and watched. I heard "That is so cool. Dad, Dad! We need one like that. Dad, Look, we need that!"

I was chuckling for at least 20 miles.

The day the insurance adjuster approved two new factory Lits headlights.

Sweeeeeeet.

Every day is an adventure, so it's hard to eke out one or even a few best memories.

I guess something that sticks in my mind like it was yesterday was the first time I drove my first Boxster home. I had been a Porsche fan since grade school (in the 70s), but that day was the first time I had even been in a Porsche. Having come from a Nissan pickup and '72 Pontiac Convertible (closest thing to a sporty car I'd ever owned was an '87 Lebaron Turbo back in college), this was a totally different driving experience. The low windshield and soft top close to my head, the twin bulging fenders swooping ahead, the incredibly smooth and precise feel of literally everything right down to the turn signal stalk. The growl of the engine when you pushed above 2800 RPM.
I was was both a little nervous and a little excited on that drive home.

Second thing that comes to mind is the day I bought the second Boxster as a "work car". I went with my old friend Jim to pick it up downtown in my car and we followed each other home. On the highway Jim pulled along side and we drove side by side for several miles and Jim shouted the opening to Hart To Hart: "This is my boss, Johnathan Hart....!"
That was a helluva fun day. :)

My favorite experience is on the track, or technically off-track I lifted at 70 mph around a sweeping corner after it rained and did a number of 360s in the mud, coming to a stop about ten feet from the cement barriers at the corner worker's station.

Both corner workers walked out and gave me a standing ovation. Boxster exterior, driver, instructor and interior were completely covered with mud. There was even a lot of mud on the back plastic window!

I was so excited I called my wife to tell her I spun out and how fun it was, not thinking she would be totally freaked out by the news. I never should have told her.
