It's an interesting recreation of the Alpha Original, but it's still a recreation, though it appears to be a very good one.

Perhaps more interesting are the number of Nationally Recognized Classic Sports Car sellers in the bidding such as Classics of Fort Meyers and Chequered Flag Cars and Guilietta. Someone sees some real profit potential in this one...

As Jim said, a recreation with a highly questionable history. I wonder what parts, if any, are 1951 Alfa.
I think this is what is called a "bitsa" car, an assembly of original pieces put together in a nice package, but without any provenance whatever.
However, today even known fakey doo's are bringing big money.

Even he thrown together cars can be worth something though, if they have a history behind them. Racing machiens are often cobbled together from parts.

Cars like this are more interesting to me because it's a drivable car. You wouldn't want to beat the real thing on the track at a vintage race but lots of people run their Beck 550 Spyders in vintage events, for example..

We have a number of VW based California Speedters running around here. Frankly, they are STUNNING and look better to me than the original, what with the flaired wells and the wide tires.
