Countdown on Dash

Hi guys!

I was able to get the boxster out both days over the weekend even though it was only to work in back. On my way back last night I noticed that the countdown on the dash while it does some oil check started at 40 seconds instead of the normal 6 seconds or so. Any reason why?

Also to note after the fill up the car did not start, it didn't try to start nothing happened no noises nothing. This has happened before so I recently added the ignition replacement to the list this winter.

So does anyone know what the 40 second countdown is for?

Thanks

Geoff

The timer depends on how long the computer thinks it will take for enough oil to get down in the sump to get an accurate reading.

If the car is cold, 5-6 seconds to think. If you take a long drive and turn it off and then immediately turn the key back to accessory mode, the timer starts at 10 minutes. Those are the extremes, and it is adaptive between.

Not starting is over my head. Good luck!

Hell, sometimes mine says 56 min if I had just started the car and shut it off
