996 TT fitment for 986

Hello,

So my 986s has just gotten the milkshake of death and I have been tossing up to send my engine for rebuild, buy a replacement, upgrade to a 3.4 or go all out and put a 996 tt engine in the car. Before everyone says just go out and get a 996 turbo. the cars are much more dear in Australia as my 00 986s still has a book value over 20k. What I am wanting to sort out is
: mounting the engine (will it mount as is or is fabrication needed on the car?)
: will is mate to my existing gear box (the box is being used with ls1 cars to 500hp)
: can I reuse the computer or will I have to rewire the whole car?
I am really considering this option as some of the reading I have done states that this 996 tt engine does not suffer from many of the issues that the m96/97 engines do example IMS failure.

Cheers,

L

No comment on the engine upgrade, but you may want to do a search. There is a recent thread of the same symptom that was caused by a failed oil cooler. Oops you appear to have water in your oil, not oil in the water.

Hey,
Took the oil cooler off; pressure tested and came back fine from radiator shop. The orings looked a bit dodgy so I replaced them. I have flushed the system right about 10 times now and I am still getting the sludge out of it. I realize there is a very small possibility the engine comes good but I am preparing for the worst case scenario.

Regards,

L
