How to adjust front hood Help
I have a 2001 boxster s and you have to really slam down the front hood to close it
Is there a way to adjust this by any chance |
Shouldn't have to slam, just push down when you close it. That said several things to check. First check the hood height above the bumper cover, it should be about 1/16" below the level of the front bumper cover. To adjust screw the rubber bump stops on each side of the hood in or out to set the height. Once this is set there are 2 bolts inside the trunk that hold the latch loosen to adjust the latch height and left or right. If you need help or pictures let me know. It's real easy just takes a little fiddling to get perfect.

Here ya go Jimbo; The first pic is of the rubber bumpers. You can see the spiral cut that works as screw threads, clockwise shortens. use these to adjust hood height. Top of hood should be approx 1/16" below top of bumper, use credit card to check. This will keep wind noise down. since yours is hard to close this may fix your problem.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1449700320.jpg
The next photo shows the 2 bolts that need to be loosened (just loose enough to move, don't remove) to move the latch assembly. Just pull the liner back to expose. It will make it easier if you pull the plastic trim piece from between the frunk and the bumper and expose the latch, but is not necessary. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1449700455.jpg Adjust the latch where just a firm push closes the hood. You may want to also check that the gap along the sides of the hood are right also. Let me know if you need more. Good Luck and enjoy. |

Here's an article on Renntech showing how to replace the front-trunk microswitch. It includes information on adjusting the latch. I think you need to be a member to access it. |
Nice! Gotta revisit mine and tinker with it. May look into new bump-stops as well.

hood adjust
Was thinking if I put a washer under the hood stricker this might work, adjusting the latch uo doesn't work and it keeps the hood to high.I have it lowered and it seems like this is the right height for the hood but I have to slam the hood down to latch it.I will try and see what happens
