anyone want a set of 1156/7506 silver/super white bulbs?

I have a set of 7506 silver style bulbs that blink super white. Turns out that the 987 model actually uses a 7225 for the front blinker. These(7506) fit the rear blinkers (at least on the 987 and prob on the 986) even though the designation is 7507 and may actually work for the front blinkers on the 986 if they use a 7506.

I only opened one - to discover that it wouldn't fit the front - I did connect it to the rear and they blink very bright (looks great against the clear lense). The second bulb has not been opened.

I bought them for $21 (cost and shipping) - I thought I'd offer them here first before I ebay them. Anyone interested? Let's say $15 (10 + 5 for shipping) - send me a PM and I'll give ya my paypal address and we'll go from there. If no one bites by Monday, then I'll put em on ebay. Thanks

Sorry Schnelly.... no need for your bulbs.....

You post quit a bit, but i don't recall any pics of your car....i'd like to to see those bright yellow calipers!!!!! (Do you actually have the PCCB's ?!?!?!?) How bout posting a few pics.... (i hope you don't have that big red MD sticker plastered all over your bumbers!!!-- surely those stickers will cause all sorts of wind leaks and vibration problems...)

FInallly.... what type of doc are you? ---"Does this feel like a hernia to you?!?!?!"

Did you check out the 987 amberectomy thread I linked to in my signature?

http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-general-discussions/4390-987-amberectomy.html

I just went to the link to Dons Bulbs in that thread and curiously enough, the 7506 seems to be just about identical to the 7507--the difference being the bayonet connector is different--one of the nubs (for lack of a better term) is offset by thirty degrees on the 7507. I guess that allows the bulb to always be clocked in a given direction. Neato.

So I guess 7506 is bad, 7507 is good. 7225 looks similar but I don't think it's correct as the owner's manual states that the bulb is a PY21W. The 7225 is listed as a P21-4W. What all that means, I have no idea...

rondog- scroll down to about page 6 in general discussions and you'll see some pix with the calipers. no pccb - had the calipers painted at a local shop and carbon fiber decals reapplied. turned out nice, especially against triple black!

the way i figured out the 7225 works is that the other rear bulbs (brakes, etc) are 7225 and i pulled one out and it fit perfectly in the front. actually, if you look on don's bulbs, the 7225 is synonymous with the py21w. sylvania guide incorrectly lists the front blinker as a 7506 - it also has incorrect info for the 987 high beam.

mach-- they look great on your car! Thxs mussati for putting the link right there-
- that thread is hilarious.....\..

now.... if i could just get Smith's Carrera Classics with those calipers....... id be the ultimate Godfather of Style......

Really? I don't see that it is here:

referenced it here:

osram 7225 is actually one of the bulbs in the rear tail light section

eslai 05-05-2006 11:17 AM

Ummmmmm... damnit doctor, you're confusing me! I still don't see anywhere on that 7225 page where it even says "PY21W". Heal me, so that I may see. :)

mach schnell 05-05-2006 11:31 AM

so - it actually calls it a p21..., and on the py21w page it lists something as a bau15s and on the p21... page it lists something as a baz15s (he says d, but i think its a typo). then if you do a search on his page for 'base' types you can see diagrams of both the bau15s and baz15s - there is a slight difference on the pix, but all the measurements match - the wattages and voltages appear to be the same between the py21w and the p21-4w...

at any rate, all i know is that the 7225 from the rear, fit the front and worked. but, then again who knows when i finally get the set of 7225's that i ordered to put in the front- i'm sure something will not work - who knows, maybe a new vibration or error message on the cd player.

eslai 05-05-2006 12:07 PM

hahaha I wouldn't be surprised.

From what I can tell, it would seem that PY21W are normally amber, if that's any indication.
