This is one of the impossible questions! Depends on color needed, how much work it needs, etc... Best bet is to take it to a few shops and have them quote it do you.

I got the quote today for install$400 and paint $375. Color code is 744 "pearl black".
Good price?

The price for the paint sounds fair, but I'm not sure about the labor cost. I would get at least one more estimate or install it yourself.

jcslocum 11-21-2015 05:13 AM

That sounds good on the paint charge if that includes paint + labor. Install sounds pricey as it's prolly 4 holes. Maybe it has a 3rd brake light they have to wire in?? Then the labor could be closer to right depending on what they charge per hour. If they would do the full job for $650 I would take it. Paint is VERY expensive nowadays, I just paid $96 for a quart of paint for my Arena red Box and it's the medium (Matrix/Valspar) end of the paint scale. If he's using PPG or Glasurit then it's more like $250 a quart.

Having things painted by a pro isn't so much, at least not here. Would cost about 150 to 200 here to have that wing painted to match by pro shops.

That's a pretty reasonable price for Porsche work in the LA area. Because its a Porsche, the shop has to assume that the job has to be perfect and that the customer will demand only the best quality.

spoiler installed, any thoughts?

To be honest I think it looks pretty damn good! The whole package that is, body kit, wheels etc...

Hopefully you have a turbo/supercharger kit on that thing too!! :)

Do you know if they had to modify that to fit on a 986? From what I could find it's made for the 987 and Ingo doesn't sell one for the 986.

Normally, I would shy away from anything like that. However, with the other pieces you've added to the Boxster it fits well and looks good. Nice job. If it were a standalone spoiler on a stock Boxster i don't think it would work.

you are right, this is for 987. My body shop guy has to do some extra work to make it fit. 987 trunk is more flat than 986. This is the guy I have, Chris Hukill who does all the body work for Laguna Hill,he is very knowledge about Porsche vehicles. Reasonable price and good customer service.

I don't, nothing crazy on the engine. I cant image to have 480hp with this little car.
Must be crazy.

Looks nice, overall. I'm on the fence about the ducktail portion, though. Need more pictures. :)

Having ridden in a Renegade LS V8 Boxster putting out 475 hp, i can tell you it is virtually a religious experience. Boxster balance + huge power = perfect car.

I SOOO wish I could have that in CA!

Top_Ramen 12-11-2015 03:16 PM

I usually hate anything on the Boxster too wild, but your car ties in all the cosmetics so well. Awesome car!

BIGJake111 12-11-2015 03:37 PM

This looks great. First aftermarket spoiler I've seen that fits the cars lines. It's still too flash for me, but it does fit the lines of the car.
